John Train is a New York-based investment adviser and author. In 1953 Train co-founded and became the managing editor of The Paris Review. The Paris Review was associated with the Congress for Cultural Freedom and published the works of such authors as W.H. Auden, Stephen Spender, Aldous Huxley, and Christopher Isherwood.

In 1959 he founded the New York money management firm now known as Train, Babcock Advisors. Train is also the founder and chairman of the Northcote Parkison Fund, which channels grants from foundations into media projects and other endeavors.

Train has written numerous columns in the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, London's Financial Times, and other publications. He has written over 20 books translated into 15 languages, including:
